My Dress Frequently Asked Questions
- How does MyDress work?
MyDress is a peer-to-peer dress rental platform. Dress owners (lenders) upload their garments to the site, and customers (renters) can browse and rent them for special occasions. MyDress handles payments and helps facilitate smooth transactions between both parties.
- Who can use MyDress?
Anyone over the age of 16 with the legal ability to enter contracts can use MyDress—either to list a dress for rent or to rent one. All users must comply with New Zealand law and provide accurate information when registering.
- What happens if I cancel my rental?
You can cancel and receive a full refund (minus processing fees) if you cancel at least 14 days before your rental starts. No refunds are given for cancellations within 14 days, unless there are exceptional circumstances like serious illness or a death in the family.
- What if a dress arrives late or not at all?
If a rental doesn't arrive on time and you're not at fault (e.g., you provided the correct address and booked in advance), you're usually entitled to a full refund. However, if it’s a last-minute order, a partial refund may apply. If a delay is due to a wrong address or failed delivery attempt, you may not be eligible for a refund.
- What if the dress isn’t as described or is in poor condition?
If the dress is materially different from its listing or arrives in unacceptable condition, contact MyDress within 24 hours of receiving it with photos and an explanation. You may be entitled to a full refund. Condition disputes are reviewed case-by-case.
- What happens if a renter damages or doesn’t return my dress?
Renters are liable for any damage or failure to return an item during their possession period. MyDress may charge them up to the recommended retail price (RRP) of the item. If an item is lost in transit and the renter followed return procedures, they won’t be held liable.
- Who is responsible for cleaning the dress?
The lender is responsible for cleaning the dress after each rental, ensuring it's in a clean and wearable condition for the next renter. Renters are encouraged to try on garments in a clean state (no makeup, fake tan, or perfume) to avoid additional cleaning fees.
- When does the lender get paid?
Once the dress has been returned by the customer, the lender reviews the dress and then confirms the rental is complete. Once the confirmation is made, the money is released to the account of the lender within 5 business days.
